U8 week4

This week I did some artists research, artists responses, primary drawing and primary research. For these pictures,i created a colour mood board from my artist research and one point perspective,i using different material to make it.

This is one of my artist response. This model i respond to stone pavilion and universite toulouse capitole. I used paper, glue, rule, paper stick, iron net and scissors to make this model. This is the first time i make a model. I used paper to organize different shape of net to make 3D model. After that,i used glue to stick theme together. I used lots of paper stick to be brick. I had use black paper as the base of the model. The artist i responsed is Mar momace. He promote the agenda of intergrating architecture. I really satisfied with this model,i paid lots of attentions to make this model at that time.

Also,i presented the techniques of one point and two point perspective. With these technique,i can present better drawing with these view of place.

U8 week3

This week I made some primary research and drawing. These paintings are respectively the place of the school and the place of the art exhibition. First of all, this picture is at the landing of bridge house. I draw a primary drawing of this space. Then I used photoshop to hang some art paintings and mirrors on the wall to see the effect. Finally, I think this is not very suitable for my final place. I think this space is too small.

These pictures are my primary drawing in gallery space. I took the photo from kettle yard in Cambridge. I learned this view is kind of one point perspective, however i wasn’t know how to use one point perspective to draw a pictures. In the future i will try to learn this technology in the Internet.

This is a student questionnaire research. I write some questions for students that what kind of light do they prefer in our school exhibition space. Most students are tend to having a dark exhibition space in school.

U8 Week2

This week, I completed the proposal, some artists research and some primary research. My proposal is an art exhibition model design about light, reflection and virtual space. This art exhibition site is in the school, so I will design this space from choosing the school location. I think it is boring to design an ordinary art exhibition. My tutor advised me to give full play to my imagination and creativity without considering too many practical factors. Therefore, I plan to make an art exhibition model with my own designs, and design a virtual light art exhibition with two or three layers without considering too many practical factors.

There are some artists research i made. These artists art works are related to light, reflection and 3D model. Olafur eliasson is a great artist. I like his works very much and hope to have the opportunity to see his art exhibition in London.

These pictures are my primary research in school and gallery. I took these location because i was trying to arrange art works on the wall. This is only the beginning,I will try to design and having a look, make sure that can used by my final place.

I will do some sketching with these primary research in the gallery and school.

u8 week1

This week, I made four mind maps and two mood boards. This picture is one of the two mood boards I made. My mind map theme is conflict relationship, the human form, the natural world and space and place. After that, the two mood boards I developed were space and place and the human form. Eventually I decided to use space and place as my theme. I plan to use this theme to make a project related to interior design. Since my two majors are 3D and Graphic design, I plan to design some patterns to make a model. In the future, I want to further study interior design or architectural design, so I hope to lay some foundation and knowledge in this field before choosing my major this September. I will finish my proposal next week. I have already made a plan.

  • When I made the mood board, I used the method of collage to it. I can always find a problem of my own. The things I make are not beautiful and look very rough. Compared with some female classmates, the staffs i made are lower quality. Therefore, when I made the mood board this time, I tried my best to change this objective fact and i was very satisfied with the two mood boards I made. However, when the final week comes, if i have enough time, I will redo the four mind maps I have made. I am not satisfied with the four mind maps, but I will study hard and I hope everyone can see my progress.

Comparing all three universities and courses now rank them in order of preference, explaining why you have come to this decision

    1. The University of Edinburgh

    2. Chelsea College of Arts

    3. The University of Westminster

I made this decision cos I prefer to study in comprehensive university. And the university of Edinburgh is a famous university in the world, I want to challenge myself, giving the more pressures to motivate and remind me hard working. Nevertheless. The interior design course in UAL is also fabulous, the courses for design are professional in the world, and there are so many art resources in London, I am attracted to lots of art exhibition and the most model city in the world. However, I just worried about the lifestyle in London is too fast for me, it has a high level consumption as well. That why I decided to arrange these two university for my first choices at the moment. I chose the university of Westminster because this university provided a professional CAD studio and more than 100 computers to students use. And also, there have a unique chance for student have internship experience in London, my understanding is they put the theory into practice, so the students can avoid the problem of lack social experience and practical skills. In addition, that experiences can increase my employment ability and get a well-paid job.

Summarise what makes your first choice a better option than the rest and how it will help you to progress in your future career

Firstly, the rank of university of Edinburgh is good, so it means this course is reliable. And also, I hope study in Edinburgh Scotland to experience the different lifestyle. I love the environment, and I figure the atmosphere for me to study is the best choice. On the other hand, for interior i chose edinburge that I believe they will provide some old place or area or house for us to innovate and practise. And the interior design course in the university of Edinburgh is 4 years, I believe in the 4 years course can lay a strong foundation.

The theme of the artist explore is a long-distance love affair and eye-popping designs are difficult to miss. Featuring both vivid colours and sharp contours, Fulton expresses a joyful sort of geometry that forgets all the starkness of recent structuralism and embraces a new high energy aesthetic instead. Deservedly taking out the Scottish Young Designer of the Year award, and once again set to grace Fashion East with her forward thinking designs, Fulton is as charmingly humble as she is inimitably talented. She bolded graphic and 3D motifs, innovative use of textiles and distinctive accessories.

And Holly Fulton designs feature luxurious fabrics, often with Art Deco and retro-inspired prints. The label is also known for its use of decorative embellishments, often in unusual materials, such as perspex and crystal. She produced Her works in studio or school. The Holly Fulton label has been awarded support from several prestigious UK bodies; Fashion East, Newgen for five consecutive seasons, Fashion Forward and the Fashion Trust alongside nomintaions for the Vogue Fashion Fund. As can be seen, her fashion design outcomes are displaying in the London fashion week. I think her work is professional level, her inspiration is also nice. I am really admired and respect her experiences and achievement. But to be honest, the style of her work is not my type.

As far as I know, she was studying in fashion design in the university of Edinburgh for (Ba). After that, she studied in fashion design in RCA(Ma). Before she went to RCA, she did lots of work and worked in different type of job. I think it might because she can gather experiences and money for herself. Job experience is really important for a person applying school.

I think she has studied for 5 or 6 years over the period as a whole, and also I realized she has studied an art foundation course in Newcastle.in her opining, she thinks a strong, personal and dynamic portfolio will help us at every stage of your journey through both education and industry. We have to choose which subject we enjoy in the university, and after graduate, do what u love to do.
